SRCN Solutions recently hosted the second in its series of webinars. The title and subject of the webinar, as decided in a poll of SRCN’s LinkedIn followers was: "Where do we start? Maintenance strategy review or improve efficiency." Colin Wilson, Director, used an analogy of a bathtub to explain the concept of backlog and the options available for its elimination.
Maintenance backlog (in this instance, referring to overdue maintenance) is a sign that an organisation is unable to keep up with its maintenance work demand. Left unchecked, this has the propensity to have a seriously detrimental effect on the ability of equipment to perform its primary function and an organisation to meet its business objectives and legislative obligations.
During the webinar, SRCN discussed the options available to an organisation that wishes to change the status of any of the following mechanisms: reliability, availability, maintenance, backlog, and cost. There are, essentially, three options available to them in addressing these i.e. reduce demand, increase efficiency, or increase revenue. Advice on how and when to prioritise them was also provided.
Catherine Reynolds, Sales & Marketing Director stated, “We were delighted with the high number of registrants for this webinar and to see many of those who attended the first in the series returning and contributing to this one. The third in the series will take place in early Autumn, and we will run another poll of our followers to ensure the subject and content are as relevant as the first two.”
